Wisconsin Certified Professional Clerk (WCPC)
The Wisconsin Certified Professional Clerk (WCPC) designation is WMCA's advanced certification and recognizes experienced municipal clerks who demonstrate continued professional growth, leadership, lifelong learning, and service to the municipal clerk profession.
The WCPC program encourages clerks to remain engaged in professional development, exchange new information and ideas, challenge assumptions, and share knowledge, experience, and perspectives with others in the profession.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants pursuing WCPC certification must meet the following requirements:
- Maintain active WMCA membership for the three consecutive years immediately prior to application.
- Hold the WCMC designation.
- Have at least eight years of service as a Municipal Clerk, Deputy Clerk, or as a person who performs the duties of a municipal clerk's office.
- Reaffirm their commitment to the WMCA Code of Ethics.
Certification Point Requirements
Applicants must earn certification points in two categories. A minimum of 145 total points is required.
Advanced Education
Minimum: 120 points
Advanced Education points are earned through qualifying educational programs, conferences, institutes, training opportunities, and other professional development activities outlined in the WCPC Certification Application.
Professional & Social Contributions
Minimum: 25 points
Professional and social contribution points recognize leadership, service, participation, and other activities that contribute to WMCA, the municipal clerk profession, and the broader community.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the completed WCPC Certification Application, all required supporting documentation, and the applicable $100 certification fee.
