WCEF - Wisconsin Clerks Education Fund

WCEF red schoolhouseThe Wisconsin Clerks Education Fund (WCEF) of the WMCA was established to promote the training and education of municipal clerks so that they will bring high professional standards to the office of clerk and will better serve the elected officials and citizens of their governmental unit by providing efficient and economical services.

The Fund’s purpose is to raise funds for municipal clerk scholarships at WMCA approved educational sessions.  Every dollar you donate helps promote education to Wisconsin clerks in keeping with our association mission:  "To be the premier source for the personal empowerment of municipal clerks in Wisconsin through education, professional development, and the promotion of excellence."

Yes, the WCEF Silent Auction!

The WMCA Board of Directors voted at their June 2015 meeting to place the ever popular WMCA Silent Auction under the control of the Wisconsin Clerks Education Fund Committee.  The Board also voted that all proceeds from the Silent Auction will go into the WCEF fund. The proceeds will be disbursed as WMCA Conference scholarships through an application process. This will allow many more WMCA members to attend our education conferences!

While this move promises to accelerate the growth of the fund and help more clerks, we cannot
accomplish that without You!

Please Donate

The WCEF Committee has chosen a theme and developed a “competition” among the eight districts for this year’s Silent Auction. One or more birdhouses have been distributed to clerks in each district who have volunteered to decorate the birdhouses as donations to the Silent Auction. The enthusiasm for this competition has been outstanding, and we can’t wait to see all the entries. In addition to the birdhouse entries, we invite WMCA Clerks and Associate Members to donate other items to the Silent Auction. We ask that each item have a value of $20 or more and be appealing to women and men.

What is a Silent Auction?

Donated items are set up on tables with a bidding card. From Wednesday through Thursday afternoon, attendees may view the items for sale and make a bid for the item by silently writing an amount on the bid sheet. Bidding ends at exactly 3:30 pm on Thursday afternoon. If you have the winning bid – the item is yours to take home and you can pick up your items by 5 pm.

100% of the proceeds received from the Silent Auction will go to fund full and registration fee scholarships for WMCA members to go to the next WMCA Conference. WCEF Scholarship applications will be available in the Spring of each year.  With the tight budgets that all municipalities face, winning a scholarship to a future conference can really help!

If you know what you are bringing ahead of time, click here for a form to fill out and email it to the WMCA Office. That way the bidding cards can be created before you arrive at the conference. Bring your items with you to the conference registration desk in the Radisson Paper Valley in Appleton.

Then don’t forget to stop by the Silent Auction while attending the conference and bid, bid, bid!!!

Building Permit Fees Waived—Help Us Finish the Roof!WCEF Schoolhouse

The Wisconsin Clerks Education Fund (WCEF) has “waived the building permit fee” for all clerks wishing to install a commemorative shingle on the red school house roof. Help us reach our goal of completing the front side of the roof before presentation at the 2014 Conference in Rothschild in August.

A donation of $25 includes a shingle. Get one for yourself, your municipality, or in memory or recognition of someone special to you. What better way to thank a fellow clerk or mentor for their support this year and in the past; welcome a new member to your district or recognize a specific WMCA committee or chairperson.

No matter how much you are able to give, your tax-deductible donation helps grow our Wisconsin Clerk Education Fund. Scholarships are given out for clerks to attend our annual educational conference and helps us to continue to be :  ‘Your Professional Link to Excellence.’
