The Deputy County Clerk-Programmer programs election equipment countywide; manages election-related duties with staff; serves as office accountant; assists County Clerk in administering office activities; and assumes the duties and responsibilities of the County Clerk in his/her absence.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are most critical for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Programs countywide election equipment: from federal/state/municipal/school data, coordinates and codes all ballot information including precinct, office, candidate, and polling location data in English, if future required-foreign language, and audio coding.Coordinates the accuracy of ballot styles.Loads/burns election data onto media and distributes to municipalities.Performs operational testing; oversees logic testing of ballots; creates and maintains election equipment inventory database; provides county field assistance with municipalities for equipment programming before and on Election Day; and backs up election programming required by retention schedules.

Lead election specialist: works with municipal and school district clerks, gathers election information regarding the types of elections, races, candidates' names, ward and district divisions, ballot types and quantities; creates ballot assignment charts for the creation of ballot style, quantities for ballot printing, and programming data.Assists candidates with ballot access documents, campaign finance documents, reminding candidates/committees of campaign finance report deadlines.Reviews ballot access documents and campaign finance documents for accuracy, and maintains campaign finance reports.Works with GIS staff providing input for election night reporting and pre-tests election modems countywide.Publishes proper election notices, ensuring accuracy with federal, state, county, municipal, and school candidates, races, and referenda. Maintains and destroys election-related records in accord to WI Stats.
