Deputy Clerk Opening in Richfield

29th April 2017

The Village of Richfield (pop. 11,385) is seeking a dynamic problem-solver to fill its recent vacancy for the position of Deputy Clerk. The outgoing incumbent is retiring from the Village with close to 20 years in public service. The Deputy Clerk, under the general direction of, and in cooperation with the Village Administrator/Clerk, performs a full range of responsible administrative duties supporting the efficient operation of the municipal government. This position is a key player in the organization and is responsible for overseeing many of the public services our community provides. While some of the work this position helps oversee is cyclical (ie: elections, business licensing, etc.), there is a tremendous amount of day-to-day diversity of task. These complex clerical and administrative functions relate, in part, to the recording and retention of official Village records, preparation of agendas and recording minutes for Village meetings, overseeing elections, managing the Village’s poll workers and Election Chiefs, overseeing the issuance of the Village’s business licenses and permits, contributing to the Village’s administrative functions and assisting with the general operations of the Village. Prior job histories with tangible experience in Election Day administration and individuals with strong interpersonal communication skills are preferred. This individual must also be a self-starter and one who doesn’t mind working independently or with several members in a small Team environment. There are also frequent interactions on the telephone and in-person with a variety of people, including co-workers, elected officials, other professionals, business owners, community stakeholders, and the taxpaying public.
