Benefits
Here is a list of some of the many benefits we offer:
- The Clerk’s Listserv (e-mail network) - an invaluable tool for communicating with over 600 other WMCA clerks instantly. A place to ask questions and get quick answers.
- Adopt-A-Clerk Program - We match new clerks with a seasoned clerk from the same type and size municipality. Call on them when you have a question.
- The Quill - our quarterly newsletter is published on our website and we send a reminder email to all members when it is available for download. The Quill is full of up-to-date information about upcoming events, recent happenings, and other information important to our members.
- UW–Green Bay Clerks and Treasurers Institute is held for one week each July. The Institute offers classes that can lead to certification through either the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association or the International Institute of Municipal Clerks.
- The PEC - Professional Education Committee arranges for educational opportunities throughout the year dealing with topics like Board of Review, Parlimentary Procedures, SVRS and election processes, and many other topics related to municipal government.
- Annual Conference - held each August at various locations throughout the state with the focus, again, on education.
- Certification - become a Wisconsin Certified Municipal Clerk and ultimately a Wisconsin Certified Professional Clerk
- District Meetings - The WMCA is divided into eight districts throughout the state. Each of the districts is lead by co-directors who arrange for two to three training sessions per year in your area. As you become familiar with your role in your municipality, you will come to realize that having friends who experience the same challenges as you do will be invaluable in terms of support, information, and resources.
