Other Education Opportunities

The WMCA works closely with many partners to bring you the latest information and required training necessary for your job.  Check out the tabs below for some of the possible classes in your area.

Board of Review

The Board of Review is a statutorily required local board. It is a quasi-judicial (court-like) body empowered with three primary duties:

  • BOR can adjust assessments when they have been proven incorrect by sworn oral testimony
  • BOR can correct errors or omissions in the descriptions or computations found on the assessment roll.
  • BOR can check the assessment roll for omitted property and double assessments.

While the make up of each municipality’s Board of Review can vary in the number of members and which officials sit as voting members, the Clerk plays a role in the process.

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue has trained several clerks around the state (members of the WMCA that have volunteered to teach) to provide this training for clerks and all members of the Board of Review panel.

The state Government Accountability Board - the GAB - is responsible for providing the education, training and other resources needed to support the clerks in managing their election duties.

Many times the GAB will coordinate with the WMCA to hold their classes in conjunction with a district meeting or at our annual conference.

Check out the GAB website for the various trainings that they provide and when they might be in your area, at:  http://gab.wi.gov/clerks/education-training

Watch this site for other educational opportunities that may be set by the WMCA Professional Education Committee - the PEC.

One-day learning opportunities like Athenian Dialogues or Parliamentary Procedures are scheduled periodically.  We will post those opportunities here when they are set.
